Care + Maintenance

Care and Maintenance Guide

At Aronson Woodworks, we take pride in the centuries-old joinery techniques used to handcraft our furniture and the durability of our finishes. Our patented Claize finish offers a silky-smooth texture while being fade and stain-resistant. We design furniture for everyday living, balancing visual and tactile beauty with practical durability. However, it is essential to understand and respect the limitations of our handcrafted pieces to ensure their longevity.

Everyday Care

  • Cleaning: After meals, simply wipe your dining table with a damp, non-abrasive sponge or cloth, and towel dry. For stubborn spills, use a gentle cleanser such as dish soap.

  • Spill Management: Wipe up all food and drink spills immediately to prevent potential damage. Minor staining that may occur often fades over time or can be easily addressed by a professional furniture doctor.

  • Dusting: For other furniture pieces, dust regularly using a damp or dry cloth.

Precautions

  • General Use: While coasters are not required, always handle items with care. Avoid sliding objects across the surface; instead, lift and place them gently.

  • Protective Measures: Use felt pads for heavy or decorative items as a protective barrier. Avoid rubber products entirely, as they can react chemically with the Claize finish, leading to discoloration or permanent staining. Ensure any items with rubber components, such as feet or grips, are placed on felt pads to prevent direct contact with the surface.

  • Special Activities: When cutting, use a cutting board to protect the surface. For hot items from the stove, microwave, or oven, use trivets. Cover surfaces with tablecloths or placemats during projects or crafts involving paints, markers, or other potentially damaging materials.

Normal Wear and Tear

No surface is completely impervious to damage. Over time, minor surface scuffs or scratches may occur, which are considered part of normal wear and tear rather than defects. If deeper scratches or surface damage happen due to dropped items, they can be addressed by a local furniture repair professional. Contact Aronson Woodworks for assistance with a finish touch-up kit if needed.

Wood Behavior and Repairs

Solid wood is a natural material and, in rare cases, may develop cracks due to extreme dryness or temperature fluctuations. Such occurrences are not considered defects but can be repaired by a local furniture repair professional.

Warranty Information

All furniture pieces are covered by a one-year limited liability warranty. This warranty is detailed on page 5 of our Terms and Conditions document, included with your order. Please note that the warranty does not cover damage or breakage resulting from:

  • Misuse

  • Accidents

  • Dramatic temperature variations

  • Placement over or under air ventilation

  • Mishandling

  • Normal wear and tear

Thank you for choosing Aronson Woodworks. We hope you enjoy the enduring beauty and functionality of your furniture for many years to come. If you have any questions or require additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
